Gatsby Inspiration Perfection!

Our Blog post today is inspired by the movie The Great Gatsby. We love the allure of all of the glamour and high society that the movie brings to life. You just want to get dressed up and be invited to such an elaborate event. Since the movie has had so much hype with the elaborate parties that were done at that time we have been getting so many questions and inquiries about doing a Gatsby inspired style wedding. They really knew how to party with style and class.

In 2009 we worked with such an amazing couple Elizabeth and Jeremy who had come to us with their wedding inspirations. They wanted to do a Gatsby inspired wedding which was so fitting to them. Elizabeth works in fashion and loves the glamour and details.  Jeremy works for a Bridal magazine so every days he sees weddings, so they wanted theirs to be different in every way. We really wanted to create their Gatsby inspiration and have it also tailored to them. You can say they were way ahead of the trend back then. Where to even begin on how every detail was taken care of from the trollies that picked up the guests as well as all the vintage cars for the wedding party: to the The Bourne Mansion which was the setting for the dinner reception; the the flowers in shades of purples; to the lace dress that Elizabeth wore; to the vintage backdrop bar scene that was a back drop for some fun photo; to the 1920’s styled champagne glasses that were constantly filled with champagne. There was such attention to detail that Gatsby himself would have loved to be invited to this wedding. Did I also mention that they were a stunning couple and fit the part of glamour and sophistication! We have attached some amazing pictures to share with you on this wedding. It is still one of my most favorite couples as well as one of my favorite styled and coordinated weddings. A Very Merry Christmas Party

Since our client chose a Winter Wonderland theme for their corporate holiday party last year, they wanted to go a different direction this year, it was all about a traditional Christmas of red, green, and gold. Like last year, the party was held at the Arena NYC, so we really needed to transform the space into a Christmas extravaganza. In our transformation, we added fir garland and twinkle lights to outline the railings adding contrast to the red and green lighting of the venue. The frosted Christmas tree was dressed with red, green, gold, and silver ornaments and topped with a perfect plaid bow that draped down each side of the tree. We thought what would Christmas be without presents?! Pink Monkey designed an abundance of gift boxes that were wrapped, tied with elegant bows, and put on display throughout the venue. The tables were designed with small floral arrangements wrapped with plaid ribbon that matched the tree and decor throughout the space. The arrangements were combined flowers, gold branches, and pine branches; green votives lit the tables to complete the design. Extra Christmas spirit was brought in by an acrobatic elf who was very naughty! She performed throughout the evening and entertained the guests with her whimsical personality. Lastly, Christmas would not be the same without a fresh snowfall, so Pink Monkey made it snow! The guests enjoyed their cocktails while dancing under the glistening snow! We thank Jayd Gardina for another great year of fun filled photos to capture the holiday spirit!

Traditional Wedding with an Indian Flair

We cannot say enough about this special couple. They are such amazing and colorful people that it showed throughout their wedding. Carolyn and Ravi had chosen the Central Park Boat House for the venue of ceremony, cocktail hour, and dinner reception. Even though it had rained in the morning, that did not stop this from being a beautiful October day in the Park! The combination of cultures was brought to life through the design of the wedding, exactly what Carolyn and Ravi wanted. A traditional ceremony was followed by an Indian infused reception. From entertainment to the cake topper, Pink Monkey made sure to keep the vision of the bride and groom’s special day in mind. Table seating cards were held by miniature gold elephants, which represent perfect wisdom in the Indian culture. The bridesmaids wore black dresses which we had brightened up by adding a colorful sash and bouquet to match to each bridesmaid. The cocktail hour music was performed by Sitar and Table musicians which was such a different and amazing fun touch. At dinner the couple wanted to keep it simple and classic. The simplicity of the white and gold palette really went well in the already beautiful setting of the Central Park Boathouse.  During the dinner a surprise performance by Bollywood dancers entertained the guests which was such an exciting treat. It was the perfect combination for a perfect couple!

Pink Monkey Goes Global!

Well we didn’t technically get to go to Japan but we were featured in Elle Japan! Pink Monkey Events owner, Michelle, had the honor of being interviewed and featured in a spread for the coveted magazine. The magazine mentions...

“Michelle Tuccillo, the capable wedding planner who chairs the wedding
planning company Pink Monkey Events. Every day, she bustles about New York
City as she responds to her clients' requests. Michelle's reputation is for
producing weddings (of course), but also all parties and events with great
style and sense.”

This feature was such a big deal for us because not only does it expand our
business but we learned so much about the Japanese culture we didn’t know
before! We learned that they love American trends for weddings and are
pretty up to date with them as well. Pink Monkey Events prides itself as
being an event planning company that caters to all cultures so the feature
in Elle Japan was a perfect fit!
